Proper concern for these species and effective mitigation can help proposals satisfy the “sustainability agenda” and greatly increase their chance of securing consent.

Ecological Impact AssessmentEcological Impact Assessment is the assessment of the effect of a proposed action on plants and animals and the environments in which they occur. Increasingly, this is a prerequisite for development, either independently or as part of a wider Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
Management Planning for Sites, Habitats and SpeciesMost habitats in the UK require management to maintain their ecological value. Many species also depend on management to provide a continuation of the conditions upon which they depend.
