Sean Gallagher MSc MIEEM, Senior Ecologist. Sean is primarily responsible for bat survey and mitigation advice and is a licensed bat surveyor. He is also highly experienced in botanical survey and management planning and has over ten years experience of professional ecological work. This includes upland vegetation surveys in the Mourne Mountains and seabird surveys on the west coast of Scotland and Shetland. |

Jenette Howard MSc AIEEM, Consultant Ecologist. Jenette is responsible for contract management and is experienced in Phase 1 habitat survey and assessment. She also has a range of experience in protected species surveys and mitigation, including bat, great crested newt, badger and water vole. |

Steve Ralph BSc AIEEM, Consultant Ecologist. Steve is proficient in Phase 1 habitat survey and site assessment. He has managed reptile and badger mitigation projects and undertaken a range of protected species surveys including bat and great crested newt. He has also undertaken badger bait-marking surveys and radio-tracking of nightjars. |

Vivien Heyes MSc, Ecologist. Vivien is an experienced Phase 1 surveyor and has carried out monitoring work to a high standard on a number of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust nature reserves and English Nature SSSI's. Vivien regularly uses her botanical skills undertaking ecological walkover surveys and ecological assessments for EMEC Ecology. |

Sarah Allen MSc, Assistant Ecologist. Sarah was promoted to assistant ecologist in the autumn of 2007, after gaining protected species survey and plant identification skills as part of EMEC's trainee programme. As an assistant ecologist Sarah undertakes a variety of field work and continues to receive training in Phase 1 habitat surveys and Ecological Impact Assessment. |
EMEC's training programme currently includes:
- Alison Sharkey BA, Trainee Ecologist. Alison is gaining experience of survey techniques and report writing in preparation for starting an Ecology MSc in 2008.
EMEC’s directors are:
- John McMeeking MBE. Ornithologist and long standing Trustee of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
- Matthew Cowley MSc PhD MIEEM CEnv. An ecologist with over ten year's ecological experience, which has included directing major national survey and research contracts and undertaking large-scale ecological assessments. Matthew specialises in butterfly ecology, a subject on which he has written scientific papers for leading journals.
- Paul Learoyd. Chief Executive of the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
EMEC's regular sub-contract staff includes:
- Dave Topliss BSc, Ecologist. Dave is experienced in protected species surveys and mitigation for a number of species including great crested newts, bats, otters and water voles.
- Jane Carruthers BSc, Ecologist. Jane regularly undertakes ecological walkover surveys and ecological assessments for EMEC Ecology. She is highly skilled in plant identification and the recognition of habitats with high conservation value, having worked for a number of years as a surveyor at the Nottinghamshire Biological and Geological Records Centre (NBGRC) at Wollaton Hall.
- Phil Palmer, Ornithologist. Phil has experience of bird-watching worldwide and is an accomplished field surveyor. He has carried out numerous breeding bird surveys for EMEC Ecology.
- Robert Melrose, Dip. Ag. Bob is a competent assistant on protected species surveys and specialises in health & safety issues. He is an experienced plant machine operator, chainsaw operator, boat handler and 4x4 off-road driver. Bob's skills make him ideal for practical jobs such as river survey work, minor landscaping and the construction of reptile and newt fencing, scrub clearance, bat box installation, pitfall trapping and bottle trapping.
- Tim Marlow, Ornithologist. Tim is skilled in bird identification and has carried out breeding bird surveys for EMEC Ecology.
EMEC’s principle associates include:
- Barry Collins MSc MIEEM - An English Nature licensed bat worker with broad experience of bat survey, evaluation and mitigation. Barry is EMEC's principle advisor on all aspects of bat survey and mitigation.
- David Holdich DSc PhD - A nationally recognised crayfish and freshwater ecologist and author of over 100 scientific publications on aquatic ecology and ecotoxicology. David’s consultancy experience includes major crayfish research, survey and mitigation projects.
- Derek Whitcher BSc - A badger specialist with particular expertise in survey, evaluation and advice on legal compliance and licensing, as well as mitigation including the construction and design of artificial setts.
- Nick Hodgetts MSc - A bryophyte expert and author of numerous publications and reports dealing with bryophyte ecology and conservation, including the European Red Data Book.
- Peter Kirby PhD - A leading UK invertebrate consultant, author of numerous scientific papers and articles and a leading book on habitat management for invertebrates.
